If you are planning to try out yoga this year, you are not alone. More than 14% of adults are now practising it across the country. But despite its growing popularity, several misconceptions surrounding it still make some people feel intimidated to try it.

To make the most out of your first session at a yoga and meditation centre, keep in mind the following things.

You will not be able to do the poses perfectly—yet

Remember that you are only starting with your yoga journey. So, no one expects you to learn everything right away. Yoga works your muscles in ways that you never thought was even possible for you.

Expect to feel the fats burning as you twist your body in different positions. If you are unsure about the poses that you do, it is best to pay attention to your instructor and your fellow yoga practitioners, too.

You do not need to reach certain flexibility to try yoga

Looking at #yoga on social media can seem intimidating, especially if you have never tried it before. But you do not need a specific baseline of fitness or flexibility to try yoga. You also do not need expensive clothing to be great at it.

All you need to have are the required materials to do it. Anyone who has an open mind and is willing to learn new techniques will undoubtedly succeed at yoga.

It is crucial to talk to your instructor

Feel free to approach them if you have any questions. Ask them as early as possible so that you will be able to perform them well later. Do not feel worried about looking silly for not knowing how to achieve the poses.

Your instructor will guide you throughout your session

An instructor will likely ask the entire class at the onset of the session if anyone has reservations when it comes to being adjusted in various positions. If your instructor did not, then make a move to let them know if you are okay with it or not. If you do not mind having physical contact, then let them help by adjusting you so that they can move you to the right pose.

Proper breathing is everything

One of the main elements of this type of exercise is proper breathing. It requires a very methodical way of breathing otherwise known as pranayama. In general, an adequate practice of pranayama can help you detoxify your lungs and your entire body.
